I’ve spent my time just smiling,
At all the troubles that were building
Between us.
And I held my breath,
And laughed at all the insults
And meanness.
But the laughs built up,
And all I want is my
Curtain call.
But now I’m all choked up,
Throwing my thoughts
At a wall.
And what was that ever going to achieve?
Except tears, a broken hand and a feeling like I can’t breathe.
So instead I’ll keep my head up high,
If only to stop me
From screaming.
And I won’t change my mind,
Because no one can stop me
From dreaming.
And I’ll wade through thoughts,
And I’ll find somewhere
To sleep tonight.
And when the smiles run short,
I’ll come home for
One more fight.
